Japan Proxy Cost Price my order

Buying doujinshi from Japan

Doujinshi are thin and light, and they are usually bought several at a time from different sellers. That makes the service fee the line to watch: some services charge it per item, others per purchase. Adult titles add a second question, because not every service and not every country accepts them.

Five doujinshi from different sellers at ¥5,000 costs ¥10,950 to ¥14,280 delivered, depending on the country.

The bar is the United Kingdom through Doorzo. Assumed: five doujinshi from different sellers, 400 g packed, from Mercari Japan, with ¥700 of postage inside Japan per seller.

Can it be sent?

All five services will ship five doujinshi from different sellers to all 9 countries this site covers.

What it costs, country by country

The cheapest service that will take it, for each country, with everything included: the item, fees, postage inside Japan, EMS, and import tax where it can be calculated. Doorzo is cheapest (or joint cheapest) for 9 of the 9 countries it can go to.

United States: Publications, films, records, CDs and other informational materials are exempt from the US duty on Japanese goods, so for doujinshi no duty is expected. See how the US duty estimate works.

Local-currency figures are approximate, at the European Central Bank reference rates of 2026-10-01 (Taiwan dollars at the US Federal Reserve's H.10 rate of 2026-09-25).

The spread runs from ¥10,950 to Taiwan up to ¥14,280 to United Kingdom. Most of that gap is EMS postage and import tax, which are the same whichever proxy you use.

Each service, line by line

The same order to the United States through each service that will take it. Postage is identical; the lines that differ are the fees.

Doorzo is cheapest at this weight whichever marketplace the item comes from. The last column is how far ahead it is of the next cheapest service; where the lead is a few hundred yen, what each includes may matter more than the price.

A cheaper way to send it?

To the United States: Sent by airmail small packet instead of EMS, the same order comes to ¥12,460 through Buyee, ¥940 less. The trade-off is time: EMS is Japan Post's fastest service and surface parcels its slowest.

Japan Post's published rates. A service is only counted where its own site lists the method; the shipping methods guide shows which do. SAL (economy air) is not shown because Japan Post has suspended it.

What changes the answer

If it is five adult (R18) doujinshi

Some services and some countries treat these differently. To United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, Singapore and Taiwan: Neokyo ships it; Buyee and ZenMarket ship it with conditions; Doorzo and FROM JAPAN refuse it. To Hong Kong: Buyee and ZenMarket ship it with conditions; Doorzo, Neokyo and FROM JAPAN refuse it.

If it is a single doujinshi

One light purchase on its own. All five services will still ship it to all 9 countries. To the United Kingdom it comes to ¥5,880 through Doorzo, against ¥14,280 for five doujinshi from different sellers; the VAT alone goes from ¥1,630 to ¥830.

One parcel or five?

Five doujinshi at about 80 g each come to 400 g together. Sent as five separate EMS parcels they pay for the 500 g band five times; sent as one they pay for the 500 g band once. The postage saved is largest to United States, at ¥15,600.

Each company's own rule, shipping to the United States. Destination rules can still block a route on top of this; the table further up accounts for both.

When it cannot be sent

Adult (R18) material. Where this is blocked it is the destination country refusing it at customs. The parcel is seized, not returned, so the loss is total.
